Where to eat on Christmas Day in Atlanta

With most restaurants closed on Christmas Day in Atlanta, there are plenty of restaurants staying open to serve those who wish to avoid the stress of cooking a big holiday meal at home. From fondue to Thai, below are eight of our favorite options of where to eat on Christmas Day in Atlanta.

1) Chai Yo Modern Thai

Located in the heart of Buckhead (next to Umi and King + Duke), at Chai Yo Modern Thai, award-winning Chef/Owner DeeDee Niyomkul constructs imaginative classical Thai dishes using modern techniques. Chai Yo Modern Thai’s excellent reviews typically highlight the food and incredible service, but make sure to try one of their new winter cocktail’s. One of our favorite’s is the Pandan Old Fashioned, that uses pandan infused bourbon, coconut cordial, and both chocolate and orange bitters. Chai Yo Modern Thai will open for dinner on Christmas Day from 4pm to 10pm offering its regular menu along with several specials for the occasion from the chef.

2) Nan Thai Fine Dining

The recipient of the prestigious AAA Four Diamond Award for an impressive 13 consecutive years, Nan Thai Fine Dining boasts that it offers “Thai cuisine at its finest,” and we agree. Chef/Owner Nan Niyomkul has cooked for many high profile events including the PGA Tour Championship Dinner, The FedEx Cup Dinner, The Miss Universe Dinner, and The Master's Champion's Dinner. Nan Thai Fine Dining will be open from 3pm to 9pm on Christmas Day and Chef Nan will offer several specials for the occasion. Reservations are highly recommended.

3) AG, Modern Bar and Steakhouse

AG, Modern Bar & Steakhouse offers a modern steakhouse experience inspired by Southern hospitality and is located on the second level at The Ritz-Carlton, Atlanta (downtown). If white glove service is important to you, this is a great choice for the occasion. On Christmas Day they will start the holiday with a sweet and savory breakfast buffet from 6:30 to 11 a.m., and conclude with dinner and dessert from 5:30 to 10 p.m; reservations are recommended for their dinner service.

4) Tuk Tuk Thai Food Loft

Tuk Tuk Thai Food Loft is located on the border of the Midtown/Buckhead neighborhoods of Atlanta, and is well known for its gourmet Thai street food and skyline view of the city from its third floor location. Tuk Tuk Thai Food Loft was named in the top Thai restaurants in the United States by Travel + Leisure Magazine, and will be open on Christmas Day from 5pm to 10pm. Chef DeeDee Niyomkul will offer her standard dinner menu along with several specials for the occasion.

5) The Melting Pot - Midtown Atlanta

The Melting Pot offers guests a unique fondue dining experience, and will offer seasonally inspired fondues on Christmas Day. Wine lovers rejoice, one lesser known fact about The Melting Pot is they offer over 250 wines, and have a sommelier on premise. The four Atlanta area Melting Pot locations will be open from 4p.m. to 9p.m. on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

6) The Tavern at Phipps

Famous for their “see and be seen” happy hours and flying bar napkins, The Tavern at Phipps is a bustling Buckhead hot spot. Their classic American fare such as their trademark Tavern chips, hearty salads, and Carnegie Deli pastrami will keep you coming back for more. The Tavern at Phipps will open at 4pm this Christmas Day.

7) C&S Seafood and Oyster Bar

If you favor fish and oysters, C&S is the place for you this Christmas Day. Don’t be fooled by the unassuming strip mall location. The C&S Seafood and Oyster Bar offers a white-tablecloth interior setting with professional service. The menu is highlighted by a raw bar, lobsters & classic cocktails. They will be open on Christmas Day from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m
